Using the QCA Schemes of Work - Years 5 and 6

Through active methods and physical response children feel safe to explore and experiment with the new sounds. For those who prefer to listen and observe, they absorb the new language by watching others and gradually increase in confidence, until they too are joining in, responding to what they hear and see and engaging with others in short conversations and role-play.

Sporting Likes

This Year 6 class has only recently started to learn German and is working on a Year 4 QCA Unit of work. A visiting teacher selects suitable materials and works at a fast pace, focusing on sentence building, in order to push children on and achieve higher results by the end of Year 6. Children are learning to ask and answer questions about sports they like and dislike. The class teacher takes part in the lesson.
