Putting the world into world-class education

Putting the world into world-class education: an international strategy for education, skills and children’s services (Department for Education and Skills (DfES), November 2004)

The strategy, a joint initiative endorsed by five government departments and the British Council, has three main goals:

  1. Equipping children, young people and adults for life in a global society and work in a economy
  2. Engaging with international partners to achieve their goals and ours
  3. Maximising the contribution of England’s education and training sector and university research to overseas trade and inward investment

It complements policy and strategy from individual government departments, for example:

'...Working with our partners, in each case we will:

Implement the National Languages Strategy vigorously with all our partners...' (page 10)
