Putting the world into world-class education: an international
strategy for education, skills and children’s services
(Department for Education and Skills (DfES), November
2004)
The strategy, a joint
initiative endorsed by five government departments and the
British Council, has three main goals:
- Equipping children, young people and adults for life in a
global society and work in a economy
- Engaging with international partners to achieve their goals and
ours
- Maximising the contribution of England’s education and training
sector and university research to overseas trade and inward
investment
It complements policy and
strategy from individual government departments, for example:
'...Working with our
partners, in each case we will:
Implement the National
Languages Strategy vigorously with all our partners...' (page
10)
