The changing landscape for languages: an evaluation of language learning 2004/2007 (Ofsted, July 2008)

The report evaluates the strengths and weaknesses in modern languages from survey inspections of primary and secondary schools, initial teacher education and adult education between 2004 and 2007. 

Findings are based on subject and whole-school inspection reports in KS2, KS3 and KS4 and visits and telephone interviews with providers of ITT, subject-knowledge extension courses and adult education during the period.

It draws on the 2007 Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) survey report for recommendations to achieve improvements in the adult education sector.
