Interested in writing an alternative guide to
Paris? Or creating a quiz for a German football team? Or even
choosing a street dancer to take part in a Mexican dance jam?
Students can try all this and more in eight new challenges added to
MYLO in the last fortnight.
MYLO is an innovative free website aimed at
pupils in KS3 and KS4. As well as basic language material, it
contains over 20 interactive challenges in Spanish, French, German
and Mandarin to get teenagers using their reading, writing,
listening and speaking skills in fun ‘real-life’ situations.
In the three new French challenges, students
can write a fashion blog, design an alternative tour of Paris or
find out about famous French photographer Yann Arthus-Betrand. New
German challenges include helping a German producer to create
fairytale characters for a new TV show and putting together a quiz
for a German football team.
Meanwhile, students of Spanish can promote a
dancer to take part in a Mexican competition, come up with
fundraising ideas for a children’s charity in Argentina or help
director Salma Polanco to find the scariest legendary Hispanic
monsters to feature in her latest film.
Teachers can register their students on MYLO
for access to innovative features such as personalised avatars and
the ability to save work and monitor progress. Registering also
allows students to compete against each other or even against other
schools.
