As the excitement of the
World Cup in South Africa grips us all, primary language teachers
will be asking themselves what enjoyable and challenging activities
they can use in class to celebrate and enjoy the event.
To help give some inspiration, Language
Teaching Adviser at CILT, the National Centre for Languages, has
identified a whole range of learning activities that can be used to
motivate, further language acquisition and deepen cultural
insights.
From research projects about South Africa
(which has eleven official languages!) to football matches with
simple refereeing phrases in your chosen language, there are many
ideas to try out - and a wide range of themes you could cover.
