You might think the last thing you need right now is
another election, but we’re reminding you to have your say
to find the People’s Vote winner at this year’s Language and Film
Talent Awards (LAFTAs). The deadline to pick your favourite of the
25 shortlisted video clips is May 31st. You can see them all – and
vote –
here.
The idea behind the LAFTAs is to get young
people being creative by making short films on why languages are
important. We received over 100 entries that all showed some
amazing language skills and it’s clear the entrants put a lot of
effort into them. Themes ranged from finding love after learning a
foreign language, getting out of sticky situations abroad and even
a disaster movie remake.
The first round of regional judging took place
and a shortlist of 25 clips was put forward to the national judges.
Our panel of national judges including Lord Coe, Chair of the
London 2012 Organising Committee, Sky Sports commentator Guillem
Balagué and Freddie Highmore who played “Charlie” in
“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” have now made their
selections as well and the winners will be announced at a red
carpet event in London in July.
We also need to find a winner in our People’s
Vote category, so click
here to watch the shortlisted clips and choose which one
impresses you the most. We need your vote before the end of May, so
get voting now!
