This year the Mary Glasgow Trust will again
award their 14-19 Curriculum Prizes, worth £5000 each, to schools
and colleges, or local authorities, that are making language
learning more engaging and successful for young people who
might otherwise give them up.
The Hurst Community College, Baughurst,
Hampshire for a brilliant Fast Track programme which has
significantly improved motivation, raised standards, and increased
participation in languages post 14;
Lymm High School, Cheshire for a range of well
designed courses that integrate languages and work experience
abroad with vocational programmes for 14-19 year olds;
Cornerhouse, a dynamic Arts Centre in
Manchester that is working with HE to introduce GCSE and AS/A level
students to contemporary foreign cinema, providing high quality
language experiences and excellent downloadable resources for
teachers and students, as well as sessions for teachers that
propose a variety of approaches to using film in their
teaching.

The published closing date for Expressions of
Interest is 31 January 2010. An Expression of Interest is not
mandatory, but advisable, and the Mary Glasgow Trust will continue
